Harpers Ferry, WV – Five days after U.S. Senate candidate Patrick Morrisey called on Sen. Joe Manchin to support the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, Sen. Manchin announced that he will vote for it.
Unfortunately, Sen. Manchin has a poor record on pro-life issues. In the past, he was caught holding a sign that said, “I stand with Planned Parenthood,” and voted against defunding Planned Parenthood. In 2014, Sen. Manchin voted to overturn the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby decision and favored forcing religious institutions from having to pay for abortifacients that violate their religious faith.
“I’m glad Sen. Manchin has finally chosen to do the right thing and support the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act,” Patrick Morrisey said. “It is unfortunate that it is has taken him so many years and a tough reelection battle to find the courage to stand up to Chuck Schumer’s leadership. Can Sen. Manchin promise the people of West Virginia that he will stand with us all the time – not just every six years?”
