West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey has reiterated his call for Vice President Kamala Harris to invoke the 25th Amendment following President Joe Biden’s announcement Sunday that he was dropping out of the presidential race.
Morrisey previously called for Harris to use her powers under the 25th Amendment, which outlines the vice president’s duties if and when the president is unable to do his duties, in February after Special Counsel Robert Hur’s recommendations not to bring charges against the president in a classified documents case, citing Biden’s difficultly recalling information.
“If Biden is incapable of running, then he is incapable of fulfilling the duties of the presidency,” Morrisey wrote in a letter to Harris, saying that since President Biden’s pitiful debate performance, “leaders from within the Democratic party and others urged President Biden to withdraw from the race, recognizing that the increasingly enfeebled president would be unable to face the rigors of an election.”
