For the first time in 8 years, West Virginia will have a new governor.
Attorney General Patrick Morrisey won the Republican primary on Tuesday night, according to the Associated Press.
He’ll face Huntington Mayor Steve Williams (D), Erika Kolenich (L), and Chase Linko-Looper in the general election in November.
“I want to thank the voters of the great state of West Virginia who turned out in droves to support our campaign,” Morrisey said. “Tonight we sent a message across the country and to our fellow West Virginians. It’s a message across West Virginia. It’s a message to the swamp. You do not mess with West Virginia.
